How We Met & The Proposal

 Helgi + Peter traveled back to Nantucket, the first place they said I love you, for their engagement. Helgi told us:⁠ "I thought to myself, 'Hm, the same island he first told me he loved me on, that’s suspiciously romantic, is it a proposal situation?' I forbade myself to fantasize about any of that though. Would be quite unpleasant not to be proposed to after having created the whole wedding plan in my head...Of course, we strolled through the harbor where the first 'I love you, I love you too' was uttered to each other. It could have been the perfect place to propose but I'd crossed out the proposal from my plan on that evening by having tamed my dreams even before we landed in Nantucket.⁠

Later in the night, he suddenly shifted gears into saying how grateful he felt about me being so supportive of him and how he appreciated everything I did for us, and how he wanted to plan future with me, and plan kids with me, and how I would be an amazing mom. At which point I still had not realized what was happening. I was like 'Yes, baby, I want all those things too.' Not until he said 'I have one more question,' went down on his knee, took the ring out of his pocket and said, 'Will you spend the rest of your life with me?' did I finally make out that it was an actual proposal in progress. Of course, my part was a big happy 'Yes.'"
