How We Meet
Erin & Jack met on Hinge in early 2022. Jack invited Erin out to the Waylon to hear country music in Hell’s Kitchen for their first date (this really impressed her!). The 2-man band played Taylor Swift’s Love Story. Erin and Jack chose a nook by the window and chatted for hours, mostly about music and about Erin’s love for her daughter. Jack visited his future best man after the date who coincidentally had just returned from a concert in Destin FL–Erin’s hometown! Erin and Jack texted incessantly after that and before you know it, they were spending a cozy weekend in the Catskills together, skiing and playing board games.
The Proposal
Jack had never been to New Orleans so Erin planned a trip over Thanksgiving 2024. Jack proposed in a courtyard at brunch on their final day. When they left brunch, they happened to run into Jack’s cousin, Barney, busking on the streets with his band Tuba Skinny.
About The Rings
Erin wanted something unique so together they picked out a sapphire, the shape reminding them of an oyster. They were able to use three small diamonds around it that were from Erin’s grandmother’s ring. For their wedding bands, they were able to recycle some gold from Erin’s stepfather’s many treasures (including an Egyptian pendant!). Jack loves his band for its old-timey pirate look and for the mix of overall symmetry with individual grooves as you look more closely at the outer rings of the piece. It reminded him of his father’s band and his parent’s 40 years of marriage.
