Jewelry Care Guide
Jewelry Care
At Goldpoint, we pride ourselves in making jewelry that will last, but we also need your help! Here is what to avoid to help keep your jewelry safe.
Chlorine / Bleach / Chemicals
Avoid pools or cleaning solutions that contain chlorine and bleach. These chemicals can eat away at gold jewelry and impact the color of some stones.
Heavy Impact
Avoid physical activities that will scratch or dent your rings such as weight lifting, moving furniture, hand sports, rock climbing, and ceramics. If the object is made of a steel or silica texture it can texture your ring. If you do find your ring has scratched not to worry, book an appointment for a deep cleaning.
High Heat
Emeralds are highly included and thus treated with oil; high heat can extract the treatment and leave your emerald looking dull. Avoid wearing them in hot tubs, baths, and saunas. Diamonds and sapphires will not be impacted by high heat.
Bodies of Water
Most of our insurance claims are rings lost to rivers and oceans! When you jump into a nice cold body of water in the summer your fingers shrink and can cause your ring to fall off. Rarely can a jewelry item be found when lost in a large body of water.
At Home Maintenance
All Goldpoint jewelry comes with lifetime maintenance, but here are some at home tips.
Stone Cleaning
Simply use a soft bristle toothbrush, mild dish soap, and lukewarm water to clean your stone.
Metal Cleaning
A jewelers cloth will help bring back luster and shine to your metal pieces. Heavily scratched rings will need to be professionally polished, book an in-studio appointment here.
Once repaired or resized outside of Goldpoint, all warranties are void.
Insuring
All custom engagement rings come with an appraisal which can be used to insure your jewelry.
We highly recommend insuring your pieces. If you have renters or homeowners insurance, we advise first reaching out to them and seeing how much is covered. If you need a stand alone or supplemental insurance, we recommend Jewelers Mutual. Enter jeweler code 4243.
