How We Meet
Both born and raised New Yorkers, Jack and Mir met through a mutual friend the summer before Mir's senior year of college in 2015. They were 'casual' for almost a year until they realized that they were absolutely 'it' for each other. When Mir took an on-campus job the year after graduating, Jack feared the worst, but they were long distance for that year and in hindsight both think it's made their relationship that much stronger.
When Mir moved back to New York she was living on the Upper West Side, with Jack in Brooklyn (a different kind of long-distance relationship!) for another year until they finally moved in together in Brooklyn in 2019.
The Proposal
After designing the ring together at Goldpoint, Jack proposed at Fort Tilden beach on a gorgeously sunny December day, knowing Mir's love of winter beaches. Also knowing Mir's love of all things vintage, he arranged for two friends to document the moment on 35mm and Super 8 film.
Fort Tilden is a special place for Jack and Mir, as they've spent many summer afternoons there and have made some other big life decisions there, as well -- like deciding to adopt a Greyhound! Now that the excitement of the proposal is behind them, they're looking at wedding dates in 2024!
