How We Meet
Eliza and Riley met on Hinge, and had their first date on Halloween 2023. The parade on 6th Ave made it impossible to get to the original meeting spot, and their compatibility was immediately tested trying to come up with a backup plan together. After a harrowing subway ride downtown squished between ghouls and minions, they ended up at the jazz bar The Django connecting over music and their mutual love of Asbury Park, NJ.
The Proposal
Riley proposed in August 2026, on a beautiful summer’s day. After taking a dip in the Astoria Park pool, Riley caught Eliza off guard by proposing while relaxing on the lawn and drying off in the sun. It was sentimental, and just the two of them, and no one else in the park even seemed to notice all of the self-timer photos they took to capture the moment. They took more engagement photos in their other favorite park- McGolrick. Spending Sunday mornings at the farmer's market has become a weekend ritual.
