Amanda & Chris

"As soon as we met, my nerves subsided, and everything felt easy. Two and a half years later, that train ride led to our engagement."

Amanda & Chris

How We Meet

Our mutual friend, Charlotte, passed Amanda’s number to me even though she wasn’t interested in dating anyone "long-distance" at first (Amanda was living in central/south Jersey, I was in Manhattan). But after a few weeks of texting and an impromptu facetime, she changed her mind :]. Soon after, Charlotte convinced me to take a train to Jersey with her to surprise Amanda and meet her in person. As soon as we met, my nerves subsided, and everything felt easy. Two and a half years later, that train ride led to our engagement.

The Proposal

Our preference was always to do something low-key, so I wanted to propose in the comfort of our home while still making it special. To celebrate Amanda’s first week at her new job, I brought home her favorite crepe cake from Lady M. After we finished eating each layer, I handed her a pop-up card that read “Every Pizza Me Loves Every Pizza You,” with a note telling her to grab a second slice from the fridge before our dog Misu eats it. Instead of containing the “second slice,” the cake box contained the Goldpoint box inside. Amanda screamed in shock, prompting Misu to hump my leg out of excitement :D. The whole moment was hilarious and unintentionally(?) captured on our kitchen Ring camera (that I strategically repositioned earlier in the day).

The Ring

Amanda has loved her mother’s marquise diamond since she was a kid, so that shape felt like the natural choice. We chose a thicker gold band with a low basket to set the diamond deeper into the ring, giving it a comfortable, low-profile fit that suits our lifestyles perfectly.
