Love Stories

Caroline & Nick

"After a lot of crying in the photo booth, Nick scheduled dinner at our favorite French restaurant, Buvette, where we cried some more over champagne and cheese."

How We Met

We met during our first week of college at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 2008. Nick, a Sculpture major from New Jersey, and Caroline, a Graphic Design major from New York City, became fast friends. While the timing was never right for us in college, we still spent all of our time together — going to concerts, gallery shows, dive bars, beaches, diners, karaoke, movies, etc. Once graduation hit and we were being sent into the real world, we decided to keep our world going. Nick moved into an apartment in Coney Island, and Caroline moved back in with her parents on the Upper West Side, beginning a New York City long-distance relationship. After a year spent primarily on the D train, we decided to move to Greenpoint where we've lived ever since (just passed the 10-year mark!).

The Proposal

In November, Nick proposed in a photo booth at the Roxy Hotel in Tribeca. This was incredibly special since we've been taking photo booth photos for over 10 years — whether at random bars around New York or down at the Jersey Shore where we spend summers with Nick's family. After a lot of crying in the photo booth, Nick scheduled dinner at our favorite French restaurant, Buvette, where we cried some more over champagne and cheese.
